What To Expect

A 30-minute distillery experience is offered daily at 12.00pm which includes rum tastings not offered on the main tour - bookings essential.

Tours of the sugar cane process are offered at 9.30am, 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm daily which include tastings of liqueur products made onsite - bookings preferred.

Guided liqueur tastings are available on request and subject to availability, and self-guided liqueur tastings are available throughout the day.

The onsite cafe is open from 10am - 2pm for beverages and light meals.

Monthly cocktail masterclasses are offered - bookings essential.

Sarina Sugar Shed is a multi-award-winning attraction offering an authentic paddock-to-bottle-to-plate food tourism experience which highlights the rich heritage of the sugar cane industry in Queensland.

Through daily guided tours, Sarina Sugar Shed takes visitors on a journey from growing sugar cane to crushing and processing it, ready to be converted into refined sugar and alcohol, and finishes with tastings of both alcoholic and food products made onsite.

With a café and retail store, Sarina Sugar Shed is the taste of the tropics, providing a unique and genuine Queensland experience.

Our Products

The Sarina Sugar Shed produces an award-winning range of liqueurs and small-batch rum (when in stock) using local sugar cane. The rum products have been highly-recognised at the Australian Distilled Spirit Awards and the Australian Rum Awards.

The Sugar Shed also makes its own chutneys, relishes and sauces which are available in their retail store and online, plus a homestyle non-alcoholic ginger beer and a variety of ice cream flavours which can be purchased onsite.

Experiences

The daily distillery tour is an intimate 30-minute exploration and explanation of the distilling process at Sarina Sugar Shed, which uses all of the senses to discover the true flavour of Sarina rum and finishes with an expert tasting and analysis of its rum and rum liqueur products.

Unique customised experiences are also available such as monthly cocktail masterclasses, and fully-guided or self-guided tasting sessions.

Signature Cocktail

Sugar Shed Mojo Mojito

Ingredients:
  • 45ml Sugar Shed Rum
  • 8 mint leaves + Sprigs
  • 1/2 lime cut into wedges
  • 2 teaspoons demerara cane sugar
  • Crushed ice
  • Lemonade or soda water to top up
Method:
  1. Muddle mint leaves, lime and sugar in the bottom of a glass
  2. Fill a highball glass with crushed ice
  3. Add Sugar Shed rum
  4. Top glass up with Lemonade or soda water
  5. Garnish with sprig of mint
